A global sporting celebration and games is set to be hosted in England’s second city this summer.
The Commonwealth Games is a multi-sport event which will feature athletes from members of the Commonwealth.
Around 72 different nations are expected to compete in the games, which will be hosted in Birmingham.
The Commonwealth Games will run from Thursday, July 28 until Monday, August 8, so there is not long to wait.
First starting in 1930, the Commonwealth Games are competed for every four years.
Birmingham was selected to host the game at the end of December 2017, overcoming Durban, in South Africa.
A number of different venues across Birmingham and the West Midlands region will be used for the games to accommodate for the different events on display.
Sports like badminton, boxing, netball and weightlifting will take place at the NEC in Birmingham, cricket T20 will be held at Edgbaston and cycling will be held at Cannock Chase forest.
Other venues to host events include Lee Valley VeloPark, Coventry Stadium, the Alexander Stadium, Victoria Square and the University of Birmingham Hockey and Squash Centre, among others.
Alexander Stadium, in the Perry Barr area of Birmingham, will host the opening ceremony on July 28 featuring the 72 countries that make up the Commonwealth, which is a political group of nations that are almost all former territories of the British Empire.
Nations included in the Commonwealth that are set to appear at the Birmingham games include Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Scotland, South Africa, Nigeria and, of course, England.
A range of sports will be on display for audience members, including the likes of athletics, boxing, netball, rugby sevens, swimming and weightlifting.
A test event will be held during these games, featuring esports.
The Commonwealth Esports Championship will have its own branding and organisation and will see men and women play video games Dota 2, eFootball and Rocket League against one another.
