The Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to new baby prince! Posted On 23 April 2018

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton has given birth to her third child, a baby boy. It was announced by Kensington Palace that the new prince arrived at 11:01am this morning

William and Kate both decided they didn’t want to know of the child’s sex in advance, and was apparently surprised it was a boy. Celebrations rang out outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London, as the birth of a new Prince of Cambridge was announced at just after 1:00pm.

After introducing the new royal baby to the world on the steps of the Lindo Wing, the Duchess is expected to head home to the sanctuary of Kensington Palace.

The new prince is the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh’s sixth great-grandchild, and a younger sibling for Prince George and Princess Charlotte, and he will be fifth in line to the throne.

The announcement of the prince’s first name is expected to be made in the coming days, with predictions including Arthur, Albert, Frederick, James and Philip.

Kensington Palace has said: “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lb 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

“The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
